The Minister of Commerce and Industry FGS H.E. Khaliif Abdi Omer on Wednesday 14 July 2021 has attended programme Launch Ceremony at UNSOS compound in Mogadishu for the signing of the 2nd Italy contribution to The Productive Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for Somalia.
The signing and launching ceremony were also attended by Italian Ambassador in Somalia Amb. Alberto Vecchi & Deputy Special Representative UN Somalia Mr. Adam Abdelmoula, head of UNIDO in Somalia Mr. Ygor Scarcia, the DG of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Mr. Abdiaziz Ibrahim Aden and other honorable Guests.
The Productive Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for Somalia is a UN Somalia flagship economic development joint-programme implemented by UNIDO (lead), FAO and ILO in close partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (lead), Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources and Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia.
In this initial phase of $ 2mln granted by Italy as earmarked contribution to the UN Somalia MPTF the PSDP are currently caring out the potential for the Somali economy to job creation and access to economic opportunities, particularly for youth and women. The focused interventions of UNIDO, FAO and ILO aim to strengthen the governance of public and private economic institution to support productive sectors and SMEs development.
